Why I am participating at Alpe d'HuZes?
I participate at Alpe d'HuZes (Running up the Mounain 14.5 kilometers with 1100 meters increase in altitude) to work on a future world where nobody dies from cancer anymore. Do you want to support me?
Everywhere around us we see people whose lives are suddenly brutally disrupted by cancer. Also in my own family and friends circle. To name and recall just a few including all the ones I have forgotten or did not mention here.
Janine the wife of Gerwin (who will conquer the Alpe d'HuZes together with me) and my cousin Esther who are both fighting now against cancer. Giving up is not an option! My father-in-law Wim who died at the age of 61 from Leukemia, Han a good friend who died far to young from the bowel of colon cancer last year.
But there is also hope and there are also good messages. My father survived many years ago prostate cancer and my youngest sister Mariët is just officially declared cured from the leukemia by the doctors in Nijmegen on September 18th 2018. She survived the Leukemia by getting a bone marrow transplantation of my brother Erik. Fortunately such difficult medical procedures are becoming more and more possible with modern science. However, we are not there yet. In order to eliminate cancer all over the world, much more research and money is needed. So, I would say: Join forces with us an donate.
