The Fireflies
Thursday 12th DecHet verlies van mijn vader en moeder door kanker heeft een onuitwisbare indruk op mij achtergelaten. Ondanks de moeilijkheden in het leven hebben het overlijden van mijn ouders doen beseffen hoe kostbaar het leven is en hoe belangrijk rouwverwerking is om de mooie herinneringen te koesteren. Mede door hun strijd ben ik geïnspireerd om anderen te steunen die te maken hebben met deze ziekte. Het dragen van wandelschoenen staat symbolisch voor de reis die we samen als The Fireflies zullen gaan maken: stap voor stap vooruit, zelfs wanneer de pad uitdagend zal zijn.
Het leven is mooi en tegelijkertijd zo kostbaar; we kunnen tegenslagen overwinnen door in de kracht van geloof en verandering te geloven. Vuurvliegjes gebruiken bioluminescentie; een chemische proces van lichtgevende cellen om te vinden en te verbinden. Dit licht symboliseert hoop en geloof om vooruit te gaan, om net als een vuurvliegje, te stralen –zelfs in de donkerste momenten een weg zal vinden.
De woorden uit Johannes 1:5 "Het licht schijnt in de duisternis en de duisternis heeft het niet overwonnen" herinnert mij eraan dat zelfs wanneer alles donker lijkt, licht altijd een weg vindt – en dat wij dat licht kunnen zijn voor anderen.
Samen kunnen we een verschil maken.
Losing my mother and father to cancer has left an indelible mark on me. Despite the challenges in life, the passing of my parents made me realize how precious life is and how important grieving is to cherish the beautiful memories. Their struggles have inspired me to support others who are dealing with this disease. Wearing hiking boots symbolizes the journey we will take together as The Fireflies: moving forward step by step, even when the path is challenging.
Life is beautiful and yet so precious; we can overcome adversity by believing in the power of faith and change. Fireflies use bioluminescence; a chemical process of light-emitting cells to find and connect. This light symbolizes hope and faith to move forward, to shine like a firefly – even in the darkest moments it will find a way.
The words of John 1:5, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it,” remind me that even when everything seems dark, light always finds a way—and that we can be that light for others.
Together, we can make a difference.
