Running for my sisters
Let me start from the year 2022, which was beautiful for me because I have got a son, but at the same time, it was one of the hardest years in my life. The war in Ukraine started, my family from there had to flee to Europe, the husband of my oldest sister, who lives in Italy, was diagnosed with cancer, soon after my other sister from Ukraine got diagnosed with this horrible disease as well. Even though I live far away from my family and my sisters, we are very close. We call each other, support each other, laugh. Being the youngest sibling and often the favorite one has put me also in the role of being their source of good energy and support, and I love to do it!
I am running for Alpe d'HuZes because I want to show my sisters the courage and mental support to not give up and stay strong. Unfortunately, my brother-in-law didn't win his fight and passed away just before Christmas, so I dedicate my run to my oldest sister who stayed behind and who has to go through her loss now. I'm dedicating my run to our middle sister who is still fighting and has to live her full life, raising up her 3 children.
And I dedicate it to those who are just starting their journey or are in the middle of theirs. But I also believe that we can work together towards the world where we can prevent cancer and where death from it is no longer inevitable.
I invite you to join me in this cause, to lend your support and your strength to the fight against cancer. Together, let's chart a course towards a future where this disease no longer holds sway, where lives are spared, and dreams are realized.
